Leadership Development strives to provide opportunities for all students to grow and enhance their capacity to be leaders. The Union Programming Council is a student based organization responsible for programming events such as Crimson Nights, the largest late night event in the country. Campus Recreation Services offers a wide variety of leisure activities for the University community (students, faculty, staff, their families, and guests). The Publication Council, appointed by the University’s Board of Trustees, acts on funding and policy advisement to Utah Daily Chronicle, an independent student newspaper; to Quarterly West, a student-sponsored literary magazine; and to other student publications. The Departments of Ballet and Modern Dance offer performing opportunities to students and unique cultural experiences for the entire University community. The Alice Sheets Marriott Center for Dance, one of the finest University facilities for dance in the nation, houses the Departments of Ballet and Modern Dance. The School of Music sponsors a number of performing organizations open to all University students, regardless of major. Many of these performing organizations also welcome faculty, staff, and the general public to their membership. All groups perform regularly, both on and off campus.
